SLU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS TOP STUDENTS
      HAMMOND -- Haley Hillhouse Shaffett, a management major from Albany, received the Southeastern Louisiana University College of Business and Technology’s highest academic honor, the Award for Academic and Leadership Excellence, at the college's annual honors convocation May 1.
      Shaffett, who also received the Distinguished Graduate in Management Award, was one of several students who received department awards and scholarships at the annual awards ceremony. Dean Michael Budden recognized the 82 students awarded Charles Wesley Merritt Scholarships, the university's largest scholarship endowment. Also recognized were Beta Gamma Sigma nominees, 13 Club inductees, and recipients the College of Business and Technology Certificate of International Friendship Awards, Presidential Honors Scholarships, University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors Scholarshrip, and the Students in Free Enterprise 2002-2003 Achievement Awards.
      Daniel Monistere was named the college’s Outstanding Alumnus of the College of Business and Technology. Monistere graduated with a bachelor of science in marketing in 1987, followed the next year by an MBA. He was quickly hired by VNU Operations Center in Coral Springs, Fla., where he worked through the ranks from research manager to director of publication groups. He has also been employed as director of the Southeastern Small Business Development Center, and by International Demographics of Houston and Adcom Information Services. In 2000, he was hired by Nielsen Media Research as a coordinator for quality control functions related to the Neilsen television rating system.
