News release Public Information Office  SLU 10880   Hammond, LA 70402   phone: 985-549-2341   fax: 985-549-2061 publicinfo@selu.edu Spring 2004 news releases Public Information home News archive Contact: Christina Chapple Date: 7/6/04   PATTERSON HEADS SOUTHEASTERN PHYSICAL PLANT       HAMMOND -- Byron Patterson has joined the Southeastern Louisiana University staff as director of the Physical Plant.        Patterson comes to Southeastern after a decade at Abilene Christian University, where he served as director and assistant director of Physical Plant and director of Central Plant.  He also was employed at Texas Tech University and has 14 years of construction experience. His honors include being named employee of the year at Abilene Christian in 1998.          Patterson has a master's degree in organizational human resource development, is a certified ASME code pipe welder, and has a master plumber's license. He also holds a conflict resolution graduate certificate.       The Texas native said he "absolutely loves Louisiana" and is excited by Southeastern's vision and direction. As director of the Physical Plant he said he wants to stress his personnel's role in the recruiting process. First impressions, he said, play a major part in a student's decision to enroll at Southeastern. "We want to be very involved," he said.
