MBA Southeastern Louisiana University, BA in Management, minor in Marketing, 18 graduate course hours in Computer Science; over twenty years experience in the business sector; over fifteen years experience working with office technology; Microsoft certified in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teaching interest include computer literacy (includes Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Advanced Excel, desktop publishing and web page design.
Courses
Computer Literacy CMPS 110 Credit 3 Hours. Open to all students. An introduction to microcomputer hardware and software. Software includes an operating system, a user interface, networking, word processing, and electronic
spreadsheets. Degree credit is not available for the Computer Science major or minors.
Desktop Publishing CMPS 233
Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Computer Science 110 or 151, or with permission of the Department Head.
Topics include assembling, and design of documents, fonts, art layout, photos, black and white images,
shading colors, graphics, using microcomputers, scanners, and other peripheral devices. Degree credit is
not available for the Computer Science majors or minors.
Software Applications — Microsoft Excel CMPS 225 Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Mathematics 241 or
equivalent and Computer Science 110 or 151. Use of various software packages for data analysis including SAS, SPSS
and BMDP. Degree credit is not available for the Computer Science major or minors.
Database Application Management — CMPS 234 Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Computer Science 110 or 151, or
with permission of the Department Head. Covers relational database basic structure, method of design, implementation,
and manipulation. Degree credit is not available for the Computer Science major or minors.
Website Design and Construction — CMPS 235
Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Computer Science 110 or permission of the Department Head. Design and construction of websites using modern website design software tools. Includes tools for creation of HTML/XHTML, visual elements and inclusion of turn-key interactive and dynamic components. Also covers selection and use of typical website hosting services.
