FACULTY SENATE RESOLUTION 2005-2006:07

Graduate Faculty Status

WHEREAS graduate programs at Southeastern Louisiana University have evolved and expanded significantly in the past twenty years, and

WHEREAS Southeastern must meet SACS accreditation requirements for faculty credentials to teach graduate level classes, and

WHEREAS the University’s policies and procedures related to graduate faculty status have not been changed in the faculty handbook in about twenty years despite “unofficial” changes in policy made by the Graduate Council, and

WHEREAS an ad hoc committee was formed in March 2005 by the Provost to study the graduate policies and procedures, and

WHEREAS this committee was composed of thirteen members of the academic community including members of the Graduate Council, Deans and Department Heads, and

WHEREAS after much study this committee submitted its recommendations to the Provost,

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate of Southeastern Louisiana University supports the recommended changes of the ad hoc committee.
