Faculty Senate Resolution (00-01-12)

Tenure and Promotion Resolution

WHEREAS the SLU Faculty Handbook specifies separate tenure and promotion criteria regarding professional activity, service, and teaching;

WHEREAS SLU is a member of the University of Louisiana System;

WHEREAS "Final authority for granting or denying tenure shall rest with the Board of Supervisors." (Rules of the Board of Supervisors, p. III:20);

WHEREAS the Rules of the Board of Supervisors states, "Full-time academic personnel at least at the level of assistant professor or equivalent shall be eligible for tenure ..." (p. III:20); and

WHEREAS the Rules of the Board of Supervisors implies that tenure and promotion are separate decisions;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT that decisions regarding tenure and promotion at Southeastern Louisiana University remain separate decisions in accordance with current policy.
