Resolution:

Overdue Parking Fines
WHEREAS from August, 1990 through August, 2000 there exists a 10-year backlog of delinquent parking fines for faculty/staff, totaling in excess of $18,000; and
WHEREAS some of these outstanding parking fines are attributable to down parking; and
WHEREAS removal of the faculty privilege of parking down did not follow due process; and
WHEREAS Southeastern Louisiana University must remain in compliance with state policies regarding accountability; and
WHEREAS the outstanding parking fines must be addressed in order that Southeastern Louisiana University avoid an audit citation;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate of Southeastern Louisiana University recommends that faculty/staff overdue fines incurred as a result of downparking be excused and the remaining fines be collected; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a letter be sent to faculty/staff currently employed at Southeastern Louisiana University requesting that overdue fines be paid; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a letter be sent to faculty/staff no longer employed at Southeastern Louisiana University requesting that overdue fines be paid; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT faculty/staff with overdue fines exceeding $200 be allowed to set up a payment plan.
