Whereas the current rotation of voting members would result in the replacement of half of the voting members each year, and

Whereas the current draft does not contain limits on the number of terms that can be served by the chair of the Faculty Grievance Committee, and

Whereas the membership of the Faculty Grievance Committee is not apportioned by college,

Be it therefore resolved that the proposed Procedures for Resolving Faculty Complaints be amended to reflect the following changes:

1. The Faculty Grievance Committee shall consist of 7 voting members including a chair. Voting members will serve for three-year terms, with terms staggered among members in order to provide continuity. Thus, 2 positions will be up for replacement in year one, 2 positions will be up for replacement in year two, and three positions will be up for replacement in year three.
2. The chair shall serve up to a three-year term and may only serve two consecutive terms as chair, and shall be a voting member elected by the committee.
3. The membership of the Faculty Grievance Committee shall be apportioned by college.
