RESOLUTION 01-02-6: ELECTION OF FACULTY MEMBERS TO THE TENURE AND PROMOTION REVIEW COMMITTEE

Whereas the university underwent a restructuring of departments and colleges during the 2000-2001 academic year which resulted in the Tenure and Promotion Review Committee no longer being apportioned by colleges.
Whereas the Faculty Senate amended the Faculty Senate By-Laws Article X during its May 2001 meeting such that the Tenure and Promotion Review Committee be apportioned by colleges under the new university structure.
Be it therefore resolved that the proposed procedures for electing faculty members to serve on the Tenure and Promotion Review Committee be adopted after an initial transition year.
Election of Faculty Members to the Tenure and Promotion Review Committee
Section 2. Membership.The committee shall consist of thirteen tenured full professors from the general faculty, from each of the six university academic units. If any of these units has no full professors, the committee member may be a tenured associate professor. If there is no tenured associate professor in that unit, the member may be a tenured assistant professor. The most senior member (highest academic rank and time of service in that rank) shall serve as chair. The membership shall be apportioned as follows:
A. College of Arts and Sciences - five members;
B. College of Business and Technology - two members;
C. College of Education and Human Development - two members;
D. Library - one member;
E. College of Basic Studies - one member; and
F. College of Nursing and Health Sciences - two members.
Section 3. Terms of Office. The Faculty Senate shall conduct the elections at the end of the spring semester. The term of office for all members shall be three years, staggered during the three years as follows:
A. College of Arts and Sciences
Two members in the first year, two in the second year, and one in the third year.
B. College of Business and Technology One in the second year and one in the third year.
C. College of Education and Human Development
One in the first year and one in the third year.
One in the first year.
E. College of Basic Studies
One in the third year.
F. College of Nursing and Health Studies
One in the first year and one in the second year.
