Southeastern Louisiana University Faculty Senate

Resolution 01-02-2: Statement of Appreciation

WHEREAS for the 2001 legislative session, Governor Murphy J. "Mike" Foster requested over $22.9 million in new monies for Higher Education in Louisiana, and

WHEREAS the legislators in the Florida Parishes Delegation were instrumental in securing passage of these appropriations for Higher Education, and

WHEREAS the Commissioner of Higher Education and his staff, the staff of the University of Louisiana System, and individual members of the Board of Regents and the Board of Supervisors also argued persuasively for the appropriation of these funds, and

WHEREAS those appropriations resulted in an average raise of 6.6% for SLU faculty;

NOW BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate of Southeastern Louisiana University express the faculty's appreciation for this significant financial support of Higher Education in Louisiana;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate direct its president to convey the faculty's gratitude to Governor Foster, the members of the Florida Parishes Delegation, Commissioner Savoie, the Regents and University of Louisiana System staffs, the Board of Regents, and the Board of Supervisors.
